Biography Research Volunteer - London/home based

Time Commitment: 5 hours 2- 3 days a week

When a veteran becomes a member of Blind Veterans UK we want to know all about them to help us understand who they are and what are their needs. We have a very interesting role to gather this data by contact our members by telephone and recording past and present biographical information. You will be gathering notes whilst they are talking so you need to be a good listener and acurrant in recording data. You need to be patient and a people's person as many of our members are elderly and frail but have the most amazing life stories to tell including their time whilst they were serving. Some of our members are hard of hearing therefore it is also important to have clear and consise spoken word to be able to be understood.

We would would like someone who has military experience or someone who has an understanding of military life. As it can be a great starting point in building trust and helping a member to open up about their lives however it is not essential.

The role requires someone able offer regular volunteering time two to three days a week for a minimum of 5 hours a day idealy based in our London Office. However we are open to having someone to be based from home to do this role as long as you are able to come to the office for training. You will be given training in the role and offered out of pocket expenses including reasonable travel expenses and lunch if based in the London office.
