Volunteer Home Visitor – Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan
Time Commitment: An hour or two weekly or biweekly
Blind Veterans UK is looking for a volunteer to visit one of our members. An RAF man, who served in France, Egypt and Palestine, is looking for someone to assist him with going through his correspondence as his poor sight makes it difficult to pick up on important letters and bills. A keen caravaner before his sight loss, he would also enjoy someone popping round just for a cup of tea and some good conversation.
You will need good communication and listening skills, empathy and patience with people who are visually impaired. A friendly and positive outlook with an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries are key to this role. We will give you the necessary training, induction and support to be confident and enjoy your volunteering.
If you could spare an hour or two a week to help this lovely gentleman sort though his post we would really like to hear from you.
