Would you like to take part in a sponsored walk with a
difference? Join blind veteran Shaun Stocker for a 35km walk with a
Stocker Strides the Proms is the final event in a series of
events organised as part of Stocker's
Strides .These are a series of challenges that will see
blind veteran Shaun Stocker walk 100km on his new prosthetic legs
between March - April 2016 in order to raise funds and awareness of
Blind Veterans UK.
Shaun is inviting members of the public to join him on this walk
(35km) alongthe coastal path from Barkby Beach Prestatyn to
Llandudno Cenotaph. However, you to do it in the shoes of our
blind veterans - walkers will take it in turn to undertake sections
of the walk under blind fold using sighted guide technique.
Registration to the event is payable in advance (£10 per pair)
and each pair is asked to raise a combined minimum sponsorship of
Participants must pre-register by 10th June. Once
your registration is complete you will receive a pack containing
sponsor forms, ideas on how to boost your fundraising and a booklet
outlining sighted guide technique in order for you to practise with
your partner ahead of the event.
On the day of the event you will receive basic sighted guide
training from a Blind Veterans UK team member.
All those taking part will receive a medal when they cross the
finishing line and a refreshing ice-cream.
