How we work with businesses

Specsavers are one of our corporate partners.

The company has supported Blind Veterans UK for over three years.

In 2015 over 152 stores supported Blind Veterans UK by raising money during Armed Forces Week. They are also a key supporter of ourNo One Alone Campaign.

This year Specsavers ran a 'Make a Spectacle' of yourself week for Blind Veterans UK on Armed Forces Week. We provided special kits for the teams to dress up for the day.

Staff at 152 Specsavers raised money for Blind Veterans UK by dressing up, organising a cake bake, with the support of their family and friends. Take a look at some of the stores who took part this year:

"We had a fantastic Armed Forces Week 2015 here at Newcastle upon Tyne. We raised £502.54 for Blind Veterans UK.

We had a bit of a mishap with our 'Make a Spectacle' pack which was provided by the charity.

After coming into work early to decorate our store we found the pack was missing. We searched high and low. All over the shop. Finally when we ran out of places to look we rang the cleaner and found she had binned it thinking it was rubbish, which meant we had to go rooting through bins to try and find it.

Setting the scene...... Our store shares bins with 'Spud u Like' and our bins are seven flights of stairs down. Needless to say when we got there, Spud u Likes rubbish had been put on top of ours. My college Daniel and I looked through as many bags as possible. Unfortunately they were full of food and the smell was a bit too much. Thank you so much for sending a replacement so quickly!

I would also like to say a special thank you to the charity for helping us in getting Colin Williamson (a blind veteran) into our store. He was a pleasure, an inspiration and a lovely gent. I enjoyed very much hearing about the work he does for Blind Veterans UK and we as a store would like to continue to try and raise money for your cause.

On the day and in store we ran a bake sale, we had items donated from the French Oven, a raffle of 2 Thornton's hampers, which we purchased ourselves and a tombola for a Millie's cookie which was donated by Millie's.

One of our staff who is on maternity came in to help with the event for free. The store also offered free eye tests and extra discounts during the week to pull in customers. Our week was a success! The atmosphere was great and everyone had a lot of fun!
