Raymond Hazan OBE

Raymond was totally blinded, lost his right hand and suffered severe hearing loss in an IRA parcel bomb explosion in 1973. He was on his second tour of duty with the Army in Northern Ireland at the time. He has been helped by Blind Veterans UK ever since. Ray has been our President since October 2004.

Rear Admiral Stephen Meyer

Stephen Meyer served in the Royal Navy for 34 years. He specialised as a navigator, serving in several ships in that role, including during the Falklands conflict in 1982. He commanded six warships, ranging from the Omani fast patrol boat SNV Al Mansur during the Dhofar campaign to the aircraft carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS.

Air Vice Marshal Paul Luker CB OBE AFC DL

Paul joined the RAF in 1968 aged 17, serving until 2006. He trained as a support helicopter pilot and subsequently his flying duties ranged across a wide number of RAF and Army helicopters.

Penny Harris

Penny has an Honours degree in English from University College London. After starting her career with a brief spell in public relations, she has spent over 25 years in investment management, formerly with Kleinwort Benson and currently with Rathbones where, as an investment director, she manages investment portfolios for private individuals, trusts, self invested personal pensions and charities. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute. Penny is married with two sons and lives near Tenterden in Kent. When not working she also enjoys cycling, theatre and spending time with friends and family.

Kerry Levins

Kerry Levins is a 41 year old Blind Former Army Officer and was appointed as a Trustee of Blind Veterans UK effective December 2012.

Tony Fletcher

Tony joined the board in August 2013 and took on the role as Honorary Treasurer. He is also on our Finance and General Purpose Committee. After leaving the London School of Economics in 1975 with a degree in Economics Tony qualified as a chartered accountant and spent 36 years working for Saffery Champness, a top-20 firm of chartered accountants, the last 26 years as a partner. Tony retired from the Firm in 2011. Tony does have a familial connection with Blind Veterans UK as a maternal great uncle was a long-standing member and is mentioned on the Honours Board at Our Brighton Centre.

Paul Palmer

Paul Palmer is 60 years old and has been a member of Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dunstan’s since 1915) for 2 years.
